9. We will move beyond simply identifying numbers and start to work with them in powerful ways. We will learn how to compare numbers to see which is bigger or smaller, just like comparing prices at the spaza shop to get the best deal. We will learn how to put numbers in order, which is useful for everything from finding a house number on a street to understanding sports scores.
Concept 1: Comparing Numbers ( , =)
What it is: Comparing numbers means looking at two or more numbers to see which one has a greater value, a lesser value, or if they are equal.
Why it matters: We compare numbers all the time! Is R250 more than R215 for a new soccer ball? Did the Blue Bulls score more points than the Stormers?
How to do it: We use special symbols: > means 'greater than' (bigger than) ** and , 229 Question 2: Rounding A bus trip from Durban to Pietermaritzburg is 87 km. Round this distance to the nearest 10 km.
