Welcome, future aviation professionals! Today, we will explore the "unseen traffic controllers" of the global aviation industry. Imagine thousands of aeroplanes flying across different countries every single hour. What stops them from colliding? Who decides the rules for safety, for ticketing, for pilot training? The answer lies with powerful global organisations. Understanding these organisations is fundamental because they create the framework that allows an airline like Africa World Airlines or Emirates to fly safely from Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra to destinations all over the world.
What is an Aviation Organisation?
An aviation organisation is a group, agency, or association established to oversee, regulate, support, or standardise aspects of the aviation industry. They can be governmental (created by countries), non-governmental, or private. Their main goal is to ensure safety, security, efficiency, and sustainability in air travel.
Think of them like the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for football. The GFA sets the rules for the league, ensures pitches are safe, and promotes the sport. Aviation organisations do the same for flying, but on a global scale.
