Volleyball is a very popular sport in Ghana, played in our schools during inter-house competitions and even in our communities for fun. To play it well and avoid confusion, every player must understand their position and how to move on the court. It's not about running anywhere you like! Today, we will learn the secret to organised volleyball: the system of zones and rotation. Understanding this system is like knowing the rules of traffic; it prevents chaos and helps your team work together to score points and win. This knowledge improves teamwork, communication, and discipline, skills that are important not just in sports but in all areas of our lives.

This section is the core of our lesson. We will break down the concepts of zones and rotation step-by-step. A. The Volleyball Court and its Zones

First, let's understand the layout of the court. A volleyball court is divided into two halves by a net. Each half is for one team. Each team's side is further divided into six zones. These zones are imaginary squares that help players know their positions. The Attack Line (or 3-Metre Line): This line divides each side into a front row and a back row. Front Row Zones: Zones 2, 3, and 4. Players in these zones are the primary attackers. Back Row Zones: Zones 1, 6, and 5. Players in these zones are primarily responsible for defence and passing, and they cannot attack the ball above the net while in front of the attack line.
