Good morning, class. Today, we are going to explore a very exciting and important topic: the many job opportunities available in the field of health. When you think of a health worker, the first people who often come to mind are doctors and nurses. While they are incredibly important, the world of health is much bigger than that! From the person who teaches your community about preventing malaria to the scientist in the lab who tests for typhoid, there are countless roles that work together to keep us healthy. Understanding these Health Education Pathways is crucial for you. As SHS1 students, you are beginning to think about your future.

A. What is a Career Pathway? A career pathway is like a map. It shows you the journey you need to take to reach a specific job or profession. This journey includes the education, training, skills, and experience required. For health careers, this often means: Choosing the right subjects in SHS (usually General Science). Getting into a specific programme at a university or training college. Completing the programme and national service. Passing professional exams to get a license to practice.
