Lesson summary

In today's world, we are surrounded by information, often in the form of numbers. Think about your exam scores, the population of our regions, or the prices of items at the market. Looking at a long list of numbers can be confusing. This lesson is about a powerful skill: turning those confusing numbers into simple, clear pictures called charts and graphs. This skill is not just for ICT class; it helps you understand news reports, make smarter decisions in a future business, and present your ideas more powerfully. We will learn how to use spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel to create these visuals and, just as importantly, how to understand the story they are telling.

2.1 What is Data Visualisation?

Data visualisation is the practice of converting raw data (numbers, text) into a visual format like a chart or a graph.

Why is this important? Simplicity: A picture is often easier to understand than a table of numbers. Pattern Recognition: It helps us quickly see trends, patterns, and outliers (unusual data points). For example, is our school's performance improving over time? A graph shows this instantly. Comparison: It makes it easy to compare different sets of data. For example, comparing the population of Accra to that of Kumasi. 2.2 Common Types of Charts and Their Uses

We will focus on three fundamental chart types.
