This week, we will learn how to put numbers in the right order, from the smallest to the biggest and from the biggest to the smallest. This is a very important skill we use every day in Ghana. When we line up for assembly, we are in an order. When we talk about our ages, from the youngest person in the family to the oldest, we are using order. Knowing how to order numbers helps us understand the world around us better and prepares us for adding and subtracting.
The main idea for this week is ordering numbers. Ordering means arranging numbers in a special way, following a rule. We will learn two main rules: going up (smallest to biggest) and coming down (biggest to smallest).
Key Vocabulary: *Order, Arrange, Smallest, Biggest, Before, After, Between, Forwards, Backwards* Concept 1: Ordering from Smallest to Biggest (Ascending Order)
This is like climbing a staircase. You start at the bottom step (the smallest number) and you climb up, one step at a time, to the top (the biggest number). When we count forwards (1, 2, 3, 4, 5...), we are putting numbers in ascending order.
