This lesson focuses on one of the most fundamental shapes in our world: the triangle. We see triangles everywhere in Ghana, from the strong trusses that hold up the roofs of our homes and churches, to the patterns in Kente cloth, and even the shape of a delicious slice of fanice or a folded kenkey ball. Understanding the rules that govern the angles inside a triangle is a key skill in mathematics. It helps us in construction, design, art, and even in finding our way around. Today, we will unlock the secrets of triangle angles and learn how to find missing values using simple, powerful rules.
This lesson is built on three main ideas or rules about triangles. Let's explore them one by one. Concept 1: The Sum of Interior Angles of a Triangle
The most important rule for any triangle, whether it's big or small, a right-angled triangle or not, is this:
> The sum of the three interior angles of any triangle is always 180°.
"Interior" simply means the angles *inside* the triangle.
