Physical Education Lesson Note: B3 Grade 3 Overview and Learning Objectives Hello Class! Today, we are going to learn about important values and how to get along with others. Learning these skills will help you work better in groups, make friends, and solve problems peacefully, both in school and in your community. Just like how a footballer needs to work with their team to score a goal, we need these values to achieve things together and live happily.
We are going to explore key values and psycho-social concepts that help us work together and be good citizens. These include: Cooperation: This means working together with others to achieve a common goal. Think of planting a garden together! One person can dig, another can water, and another can plant the seeds. Everyone contributes! Respect: Showing respect means treating everyone with kindness and considering their feelings. This includes listening when someone is talking, not interrupting, and valuing their opinions even if you don't agree. Imagine someone is telling you about their favourite toy. You show respect by listening carefully and asking questions nicely. Fairness: Fairness means treating everyone equally and giving them a chance to participate. Think of a game of Ampe. Fairness means everyone gets a turn to jump, and the rules are the same for everyone. Empathy: Empathy is understanding and sharing the feelings of another person. It means putting yourself in their shoes. If a friend is sad because they lost their pen, showing empathy means understanding their sadness and trying to comfort them. Conflict Resolution: This means finding peaceful ways to solve disagreements. Imagine two friends arguing over a toy. Conflict resolution means talking to each other calmly, listening to each other's viewpoints, and finding a solution that makes both of them happy (like sharing the toy or finding another toy to play with).
Example 1: Cooperation in a Classroom Cleaning Task Let's say our classroom is messy. To cooperate, we can divide the work. Some students sweep, others dust, and others arrange the books. When everyone does their part, the classroom becomes clean quickly.
Example 2: Respecting Different Opinions during a Game During a football game, Ama thinks they should pass the ball to Kofi, but Kwesi thinks they should shoot. Respecting different opinions means they discuss their ideas calmly instead of arguing. They might decide to try both strategies and see which works best. Guided Practice (With Solutions)
Question 1: Imagine you are playing a game of oware with your friend. Your friend accidentally knocks over some of the seeds. What is the most respectful thing to do? A) Blame your friend for being clumsy. B) Help your friend pick up the seeds. C) Get angry and refuse to play anymore.
