Physical Education Lesson Note - B1 Grade 1 Overview and Learning Objectives Hello Class One! Today in Physical Education (PE), we're going to learn about important things that help us work well with each other. We'll be talking about values like being fair, being a good friend, and understanding our feelings. These things will help us not just in PE, but in all parts of our lives – at home, at school, and in our community. They help us become good citizens of Ghana!

Lesson notes

Let's talk about the values that help us during PE and in our lives: Fairness: Fairness means giving everyone an equal chance. Imagine we're playing a running race. It's fair if everyone starts at the same line. It's not fair if one person gets to start way ahead! When we're sharing equipment like balls or skipping ropes, fairness means taking turns and not hogging everything for yourself. It is about treating everyone with respect and giving them what they deserve. Being a Good Friend: A good friend is someone who is kind, helpful, and supportive. In PE, being a good friend means helping a classmate who is struggling with an activity. It means cheering them on even if they don't win. It means sharing your water or offering encouragement. Remember, friends help each other grow! Understanding Our Feelings: We all have different feelings, and it's important to know what they are. In PE, you might feel happy when you score a goal, sad if you fall down, or angry if someone isn't playing fairly. Recognizing these feelings is the first step to managing them. If you feel angry, take a deep breath and talk to your teacher or a friend. If you feel sad, ask for help or try to find something positive. Sharing: Sharing means letting others use your things or letting them participate. It's about being generous and understanding that everyone deserves a turn. Sharing equipment like a ball or skipping rope is important in PE because it allows everyone to participate and have fun. Following Rules: Rules are important because they keep us safe and help us play fairly. Imagine a football match without rules! There would be chaos! Rules in PE ensure everyone knows what to do, prevent accidents, and make sure everyone has a chance to enjoy the activity. Following the rules shows respect for the game, your classmates, and your teacher.

Example:

Let’s say we’re playing a game of *Ampe*. Fairness: The judges should be fair when deciding who won each round. They must not favour one person over the other. Being a Good Friend: If your friend trips while playing, you should help them up and encourage them to keep trying. Understanding Our Feelings: If you lose a round of *Ampe*, you might feel disappointed. It's okay to feel that way, but try not to let it ruin the game for everyone else. Sharing: If there are not enough people to play a proper game of Ampe, you should include some people who are watching so that more people can play. Following Rules: You should kick your legs at the same time as your opponent to keep the game fair. Guided Practice (With Solutions)
