SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

1) Explain the meaning of toilet hygiene

2) Describe ways we can maintain toilet hygiene

3) Explain the proper use of the toilet

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Audio visual resources, picture of a toilet, pictures showing some items that can be found in the toilet

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on uses of water and items found in the toilet

EXPLANATION

She introduces the new topic by explaining the meaning of toilet hygiene

Toilet hygiene means the proper and safe use of the toilet

DEMONSTRATION

She explains the proper use of the toilet

1. sit directly onto the toilet bowl- don’t stand or squat on it

2. use the toilet roll provided to wipe your waste and dispose it in the dust bin provided or in the toilet bowl

3. flush the toilet with your hand to remove the waste

4. wash your hands properly in the wash hand basin and dry your hands 

She also explains simple toilet hygiene

1. use water and toilet roll to clean up

2. flush the toilet after use

3. wash your hands after using the toilet

4. keep the door of the toilet close

5. use disinfectants

6. wash the toilet regularly to prevent contacting toilet infections
