STEP 1: INTRODUCTION

- Introduce the topic by discussing the importance of measuring things. - Show objects of different lengths.

STEP 2: EXPLANATION

- Explain that length is how long something is. - Demonstrate measuring an object using a non-standard unit (e.g., hand span).

- Observe and repeat the measurements demonstrated by the teacher.

STEP 3: INTERACTIVE SESSION

- Ask pupils to measure their desks or books using their hands. - Guide them through the process.

- Pupils measure objects in the classroom using hand spans or feet.

STEP 4: NOTE TAKING

- Write the word "Length" on the board and a few examples of non-standard units of measurement.

- Copy the notes on length and non-standard units.

 

EVALUATION:

  1. Measure your pencil using your hand.
  2. What is the length of your desk in hand spans?

- Demonstrate how to measure objects using a ruler in centimeters.

- Pupils observe the teacher’s demonstration and then practice with their own rulers.
