SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  1. Explain how to safely use simple machines
  2. Analyse the dangers of not taking safety precautions when using simple machines
  3. Describe how to cut our nails
  4. Mention ways of maintaining the hair
  5. List the items used in maintaining the hair

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method,

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Pictures/charts of people practicing personal hygiene like brushing their teeth, spoon, sharpeners, ruler, razor blade, see-saw, grinder etc, nail cutters, file, nail buffer, shampoo, comb, hair brush, hair creams etc

Explanation

She explains how to safely use simple machines

1. Keep them in appropriate places

2. Do not play with them

3. Put off the electrical machines if they’re not in use

4. Handle them with care

5. If they are no longer useful, dispose them off

6. If it is a loud tool, use ear protection

Demonstration

She demonstrates the dangers of not taking precautions while using simple machines

1. it could lead to serious wounds and injuries

2. it could lead to damage of the tool involved

3. it could damage our sense organs

The pupils write the notes in their books

1. trim the nails

2. remove the dirts

3.keep the nails neat and dry

4. Apply moisturizers

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She explains and demonstrate the care of the hair

1. wash with shampoo and rinse properly regularly

2. Oil, comb and style the hair

2. plait or barb as appropriate

3. do not share hair tools or materials e.g comb, scarf or even barbing clippers

4. Trim out the weak strands and edges

Pupils pay attention and participate
