- Explain that addition of whole numbers can be done using different methods. - Write problems like 9 + 7 on the board and demonstrate the solution.

- Listen to the teacher and take notes. - Ask questions if needed.

- Ask the pupils to use counters to add numbers like 8 + 9. - Walk around and guide the pupils.
