SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

1) Discuss the types and uses of local farm animals

2) Describe the reasons and materials for cleaning the mouth, teeth and tongue

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Audio visual resources, pictures and chart of showing materials used for cleaning the mouth, tongue and teeth, pictures showing local farm animals at work on the farm

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on the meaning and examples of local farm animals and keeping the hand and feet clean

EXPLANATION

She introduces the new topic by  explaining what the types of farm animals

1. dairy producers e.g cow, goat, camel, horse etc

2. meat producers e.g chicken, cow, goat, buffalo etc

3. Egg producers e.g chicken, fish etc

4. Work(beast of burden) e.g oxen, donkey, mule, camel, horses etc

5. sports and guard e.g cow, dog, chicken etc

 

She also explain some uses of farm animals

1. we get wools, and hairs from them for clothing, ropes and tents

2. for hides, skin and leather

3. for meat, eggs and milk

4. For bones, hooves and horns used for variety of purposes

Pupils pay attention

She demonstrates the reasons and materials for caring for the mouth tongue and teeth  

Materials

1. tooth brush

2. toothpaste

3. mouth wash

 

The reasons why we care for the mouth, tongue and teeth is

1. to prevent tooth decay and ache

2. to prevent mouth odour

3. to bring about fresh breath and whitened teeth that makes us attractive
