  3. Discuss the meaning of drug abuse as part of public enlightenment campaigns in relation to civic education
  4. Identify the hazards of drug abuse
  5. Explain security measures that should be taken in offices

She explains the meaning of public enlightenment campaigns

 

Public enlightenment campaigns are programmes and projects used to create awareness to the public about matters that affect people in the society e.g drug abuse, HIV/AIDS etc

 

She explains the meaning of HIV/AIDS education

HIV- Human Immunodeficiency Virus

AIDS- Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome

 

HIV/AIDS education is simply educating the people about the meaning, causes and prevention of HIV/AIDS

 

She also explains the importance of HIV/AIDS education

1. It helps to maintain and develop safer behaviours

2. it reduces the stigma and discrimination towards people affected by or are living with HIV/AIDS

3. It equips us on how to treat and care for people living with HIV/AIDS

 

She further explains how to prevent HIV/AIDS

1. By staying completely away from sex

2. Never share any sharp objects e.g needles, knives, razor blade, barbing clippers etc with others

Drug abuse is simply the use of drugs for recreational and nonmedical purposes

 

She further explains the hazards of drug abuse

1. Nausea and abdominal pain, which can also lead to changes in appetite and weight loss.

2. Increased strain on the liver, which puts the person at risk of significant liver damage or liver failure.

3. Seizures, stroke, mental confusion and brain damage.

4. It can cause lung diseases.
