SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Explain the meaning of water
  2. List sources of clean water
  3. Describe and perform simple jumps
  4. State the safety rules in throwing catching and jumping

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Pictures/posters/charts of sources of water, cross bar, upright poles, land pits, flags, stop watch, whistle, playground

STEP 1

Introduction of the topic

The teacher introduces the topic with a song about water and explains water

Water is a colourless, odourless and tasteless liquid

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

Explanation

She explains that there are many sources of clean water which includes

-      Well

-      Water bodies e.g oceans, streams, seas etc

-      Bore-hole/Tap

-      Springs

-      Rain

Pupils pay attention

STEP 3

Demonstration

Using, the pictures, She identifies the various sources of water and makes the pupils to do the same

NOTE TAKING

The teacher writes a short note on the board

The pupils write the notes in their books

 

NOTE

There are many sources of clean water which includes

  • Well
  • Water bodies e.g oceans, streams, seas etc
  • Bore-hole/Tap
  • Springs
  • Rain

EVALUATION:    1. Explain the meaning of water

  1. Mention four sources of water

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

Simple jump is when we lift ourselves off the ground into the air.

DEMONSTRATION

The teacher further mentions and performs the simple jumps in athletics

1. long jump

2. high jump

3. triple jump

 

She explains the safety rules that should be observed in throwing, catching and jumping events

1. do not walk across the field when balls are being thrown and caught

2. throw, run and catch only when your teacher is present

3. Your field must free from stones and other objects that may injure people
