SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Explain the meaning of light
  2. Discuss and analyse the natural and artificial sources of light
  3. Assess the importance of light in our environment
  4. Outline the basic functions of the keyboard
  5. State the types of long distance races
  6. Identify safety rules in long distance races
  7. Demonstrate long distance race

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Charts on sources of energy, candle, torchlight, chart showing light energy, play ground, red/white flag, whistle, stop watch

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The pupils are asked to brainstorm the meaning of energy and derive the meaning of light energy- Energy is the ability to do work.

 

Light energy is energy that produces light

EXPLANATION

The teacher explains that there are two sources of light energy:

1. Natural source e.g sun, stars

2. Artificial source e.g battery, petroleum(generator), torch light, fire from match sticks and candle, electric bulb etc

DEMONSTRATION

She further explains and demonstrates the uses of light

1. It helps us to see things

2. It helps plants to make food and grow

3. The energy from the sun can be used to provide electricity and for other domestic use

4. it makes many electronic appliances e.g camera to work

A computer keyboard is an input device that allows a person to enter letters, numbers, and other symbols (these are called characters) into a computer. It is one of the most used input devices for computers. Using a keyboard to enter lots of data is called typing.

Long distance races are races ranging from 3000m and above e.g 3000m race, 5000m race and 10000m race
