STEP 3 - INTERACTIVE SESSION

Uses counting sticks to count numbers 1 to 5 with the class.

Pupils count along and participate.

STEP 4 - NOTE TAKING

Writes numbers 1-5 on the board. Asks pupils to copy in their books.

Pupils write numbers in their books.

NOTE: Pupils may be assisted individually if needed.

EVALUATION:

  1. Identify the number of bottle tops presented.
  2. What number comes after 2?
  3. Write numbers 1 to 5 in your book.

NOTE: Encourage pupils to pronounce each number as they write.

EVALUATION:

  1. Identify number 3 on the flashcard.
  2. Count 5 blocks aloud.
  3. Write numbers 1 to 5 without tracing.

CLASS ACTIVITY: Pupils take turns showing objects and stating how many they counted.
