  1. Identify numbers 1 to 5 using concrete objects.
  2. Count objects up to 5 correctly.
  3. Recognize and read numbers 1 to 5.
  4. Write numbers 1 to 5 correctly.

  • Number flashcards (1-5)
  • Counting sticks, bottle tops, buttons, and blocks

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
PERIOD 1 and 2:
PRESENTATION

STEP 1 – INTRODUCTION

Shows a few objects and asks pupils how many they can see (1 to 5).

Pupils respond with numbers.

STEP 2 – EXPLANATION

Explains that we are learning how to count and recognize numbers 1 to 5.

Pupils listen attentively.

STEP 3 - INTERACTIVE SESSION

Uses counting sticks to count numbers 1 to 5 with the class.

Pupils count along and participate.

STEP 4 - NOTE TAKING

Writes numbers 1-5 on the board. Asks pupils to copy in their books.

Pupils write numbers in their books.

NOTE: Pupils may be assisted individually if needed.

EVALUATION:

  1. Identify the number of bottle tops presented.
  2. What number comes after 2?
  3. Write numbers 1 to 5 in your book.

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively.

STEP 3 - DEMONSTRATION

Gives pupils number writing worksheets or drawing books to trace and write.

Pupils trace and write numbers.

STEP 4 - NOTE TAKING

Asks pupils to write the numbers in their notebooks from memory.

Pupils write numbers 1 to 5.

NOTE: Encourage pupils to pronounce each number as they write.

EVALUATION:

  1. Identify number 3 on the flashcard.
  2. Count 5 blocks aloud.
  3. Write numbers 1 to 5 without tracing.

CLASS ACTIVITY: Pupils take turns showing objects and stating how many they counted.

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively.
