Previous knowledge: Pupils are familiar with problems facing agriculture.

Objective: At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to:

  1. Know other problems facing Agriculture
  2. Know where crops are stored.

Content

Another problem facing agriculture are the inadequacies of good storage and transport facilities. Farmer may produce crops in excess or large quantity and if there is no good storage facility, the crops will get spoil and this will greatly reduce the income of the farmers.

When crops are harvested, they must be well stored else, it will be attacked by pests. Maize should be stored in maize crib or silo, yams should be stored in yam barns.

Good transportation network should be provided for farmers that produce in an area that is very far from where they are to be sold.

Presentation:

Step I: Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils

Step II: Teacher introduces and explain new topic to pupils

Step III: Pupils are allowed to ask questions

Step IV: Teacher writes note on the boards for pupils

Evaluation:
