Paul’s suffering in Phillipi
The masters of the slave girl were sad because of the spirit that was driven out by Paul. They took Paul to their leaders and said that he was causing trouble in the city. The leaders beat Paul and Silas and tore their clothes. They were also put in prison.
The conversion and Baptism of the prison officer
In middle of the night, Paul and Silas started praying and singing songs to God. Then the walls of the prison were shaken and the doors were opened. The chains that tied the hands and legs of the prisoners were cut off. The prison officer wanted to kill himself because he thought that the prisoners had run away. Paul told him not to hurt himself because no prison was missing.
He ran and fell down in front of Paul and Silas. Paul told him to believe in the Lord Jesus and he was saved with is household and Baptized. He took care of Paul and Silas.
Paul and Silas became free
The prison officer took Paul and Silas to his house and gave them food. The next morning, the leaders sent more soldiers to release them. Paul said they would not leave quietly. He told the leaders to come and bring them out because they did not allow them to say anything before they were put in prison. The leaders came and told them were sorry. They took them out of the prison and told them to leave their city.
