Previous knowledge: Pupils are familiar with mechanized farming.

Objective: At the end of the lesson pupils should be able:

  1. Define Aviation
  2. Mention types of aviation
  3. List professionals in aviation

Content

Aviation deals with the design, manufacture, use or operation of aircraft. Aircraft can be in any of these types.

  1. Aeroplane: this is a type of an aircraft which is heavier than air, flying with two or more fixed wings. This is the commonest type you see around. Examples of aeroplane are Boeing, Airbus aeroplane etc another name for an aeroplane is airplane.
  2. Helicopter: this is a type of aircraft that has a rotating wings attached on top of the aircraft which makes it fly in the sky.
  3. Glider: this is a light aircraft which makes it fly in the sky using engine. Gliders are used in sport for gliding.
  4. Airship: this is a lighter-than-air aircraft that can be steered and propelled through the air. It stays a loft in the air by having a large part of it filled with a gas which is less dense than surrounding air.

Step IV: Teacher writes note on the boards for pupils

Conclusion: Teacher moves round for inspection, marking and correction of notes where necessary.
