Objective: At the end of the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to know important dates to remember.

Content

  1. 1841- Methodist church established at Badagry, Lagos
  2. 1859- First secondary school in Nigeria CMS (Grammar school Lagos) was founded
  3. 1860- First newspaper in Nigeria published (Iwe iroyin)
  4. 1865- The first Nigeria Hospital was built at Abeokuta (Sacred Heart Hospital) 
  5. 1898- The name “Nigeria” was given by Lady Lord Luggard
  6. 1861- Rev Samuel Ajayi Crowther ordained by the first African Bishop and He died in 1891.
  7. 1906- Federal Capital of Nigeria moved from Calabar to Lagos
  8. 1914- Northern and southern Nigeria was amalgamated
  9. 1918- Paper money (currency) became a legal tender in Nigeria
  10. 1958- Central Bank of Nigeria was established
  11. 1973- N.Y.S.C was established
  12. 1973- Nigeria change to the use of Naira and Kobo
  13. 1991- Federal capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja.

Step I: Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils

Step II: Teacher introduces and explain new topic to pupils

Step III: Pupils are allowed to ask questions

Step IV: Teacher writes note on the boards for pupils

Evaluation:

  1. When was C.B.N established?
  2. When did paper money became a legal tender in Nigeria?
  3. What year C.M.S Grammar School Lagos founded?

Conclusion: Teacher moves round for inspection, marking and correction of notes where necessary.
