Objective: At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to know the various uses of computer networks.

Content

Uses of computer networks

  1. Easy communication: using computer networks, people can communicate well through e-mail, chat rooms, video telephone calls etc.
  2. Sharing computer hardware: in a networked environment, each computer on anetwork can access and use the hardware of another person connected to the network
  3. Sharing files, data and information: in a networked environment any authorized user can access data and information stored on other computers on the network. Giving someone the right to use his or her data and information.
  4. Sharing computer software: users connected to a network can get free computer programs and application programs from other users on the network and thereby avoid purchasing new ones.

Presentation:

Step I: Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils

Step II: Teacher introduces and explains new topic to pupils

Step III: Pupils are allowed to ask questions

Step IV: Teacher writes notes on the board for pupils.

Evaluation:

  2. List two advantages of computer networks
  3. Mention three types of computer network
