  2. Know where sporting activities are done
  3. Classify sport

Content

Sport is referred to as the activity that you do for pleasure which needs physical effort or skill. It is usually done in a special area or place that is specially built for it.

Sporting activities are done in a stadium. A stadium is a large sporting ground usually with seats for spectators. Spectators are people who watch a sport or an event. Spectators cheer the sport when it is going on.

Classification of sports

  1. Outdoor sports: These are sporting activities that take place in an open air. Examples are:
  1. Soccer
  2. Polo
  3. Cycling
  4. Athletics
  5. Gliding
  1. Indoor sports: Indoor sports are sporting activities that takes place within a covered roof building. Examples are:
  1. Boxing��� ��� ��� d) Weight lifting��� ��� g) Basket ball��� j) Volleyball
  2. Wrestling��� ��� ��� e) Hockey��� ��� ��� h) Lawn tennis��� ���
  3. Swimming��� ��� f) Table tennis��� ��� i) Karate/

Games may be classified by types such as:

  1. Board games e.g chess, drought, ludo, snake and ladder
  2. Cards e.g poker, solitaire, Whot
  3. Word and letter games e.g scrabble, crossword, puzzle
  4. Guessing games e.g charades

Sportmen /sportwomen: are the general names for people that play sports/games. A coach is a person that trains an athlete or a team.

Importance of sport

  1. It helps in mental development
  2. It keeps pupils off the street
  3. It enhances healthy living

Presentation

Step I: Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils

Step II: Teacher introduces and explains new topic to pupils

Step III: Pupils are allowed to ask questions

Step IV: Teacher writes notes on the board for pupils
