Objective: At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to:

  1. Define “made in Nigeria goods”
  2. Name goods made in Nigeria
  3. State the advantages of using goods made in Nigeria.

Content

Goods are items or things that are produced in industries for human consumption. Services are assistance given by professionals or specialists to people in order to satisfy them. Goods are those things we can see and touch while services are not seen and cannot be touched.

Goods made in Nigeria are goods that are produced in Nigeria. They are also known as locally made goods while goods imported into the country are known as foreign goods. Locally made goods include, shoes, table, sandals, chair, clothes, books, beds, ice cream, bread, chocolate, milk, knives, pots, plates, etc.

Foreign made goods include airplane, ships, cars, televisions, fridges, computers, telephones, wrist watches, radios, ceiling fans, gas/electric cookers, C.D players, electric bulbs, camera’s etc.

Benefits of manufacturing goods in Nigeria

  1. Employment
  2. Industrialization
  3. Improved standard of living
  4. Contentment
  5. Hard work
  6. National pride

Problems of manufacturing goods in Nigeria

  1. Poor road network
  2. Lack of infrastructure
  3. Competition
  4. Change in government policies
  5. Lack of trained manpower
  6. Lack of raw materials

Presentation:

Step I: Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils

Step II: Teacher introduces and explains new topic to pupils

Step III: Pupils are allowed to ask questions

Step IV: Teacher writes in the board for pupils
