  2. Identify the major meals of the body

Content

Meal planning is the process of making adequate arrangement to provide adequate or balanced diet, for individuals or the family as a whole, to beeaten at one time.

Factors that can be considered when planning our meals

  1. Money available
  2. Food in season
  3. Time available
  4. Health of the individual/families

Major meals of the day

  • Breakfast:The first meal of the day is usually eaten in the morning. It is very important and must be light.
  • Lunch: This is the meal eaten in the middle of the day.
  • Dinner: This is the main meal of the day, usually eaten in the evening or sometimes late afternoon.

Presentation:

Step I: Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils

Step II: Teacher introduces and explains new topic to pupils

Step III: Pupils are allowed to ask questions

Step IV: Teacher writes notes on the board for pupils

Evaluation:

  • Explain the meaning of meal planning
  • List three factors to be considered when planning meals
  • Mention the major meals of the day

Conclusion: Teacher moves round for inspection, marking and correction of notes where necessary.
