Types of computer networks

• Personal Area Networks (PAN is a computer network used for communication among computers and different information devices close to one person. Examples are personal computers, printers, fax, telephones etc.

• Local Area Network: LAN is a network that connects computers and other devices in a large environmental area such as homes, schools.

• Wide Area Network: WAN is a computer network that covers a geographical area.

• Global Area Network: GAN is a network used for supporting mobile communication across some wireless LANs, Satellite coverage areas etc.

1. Virtual Private Network (VPN)
2. Campus Area Network
3. Home Area Network
