Objective:     At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to pronounce and spell the new words.

New words

 

  • Beautiful: Attractive, good looking and possessing charm.
  • Bright: Colourful, Not dark
  • Smooth: Having a texture that is not rough
  • Delicious: Pleasing to taste; tasty
  • Wrinkled: Uneven, a line in the skin
  • Flap: Anything broad and flexible that hangs loose, or that is attached by one side or end and is moved.
  • Admire: To look upon with a feeling of pleasure
  • Squeaky: To produce a high – pitched sound
  • Frightened: Afraid, suffering from fear
  • Gathered: To bring closer, to assemble
  • Shrink: To become smaller
  • Surprised: Cause to feel surprise i.e something not expected.

 

Presentation:

Step 1: Teacher revises previous lesson with pupils

Step 2: Teacher introduces and pronounces new words to pupils

Step 3: Pupils look for the meaning of the words in the dictionary

Step 4: Pupils read the comprehension passage and answer questions that follow.

Evaluation

  1. Long ago, lizards were very beautiful and looked forever young
  2. On that terrible day a lizard could not hold on and fell from the ceiling into a cooking pot.
  3. A man found the cooked lizard and decided to try tasting it: He said that the lizard was delicious.
  4. The young lizard’s idea was that the lizards should hide inside human’s wrapper until dark
  5. The lizards were stuck on the rock then their skin began to dry and shrink and soon their colours faded.
  6. Lizards hide in dark places because they have dull and wrinkled skin and are so ugly.

Conclusion: Teacher moves round for inspection, marking and correction of notes where necessary.
