Welcome to Week 8! This week marks a critical point in our Grade 11 EGD journey. We are dedicating this week to comprehensive revision and focused examination preparation. EGD skills are essential not just for academic success but also for various careers crucial to South Africa's development, such as architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing. Understanding how to effectively visualize, interpret, and communicate technical information through drawings and designs is vital for participating in these industries and contributing to the country's infrastructure and economic growth.
This week's revision will cover the following key concepts: 2.1 Orthographic Projection (First-Angle and Third-Angle): Orthographic projection is the fundamental technique for representing 3D objects in 2D. It involves projecting the object onto different planes (Horizontal Plane (HP), Vertical Plane (VP), and Profile Plane (PP)) from different viewpoints (front, top, and side).
First-Angle Projection: The object is placed behind the projection planes. This means the viewer is between the object and the plane. The top view is placed below the front view, and the right-side view is placed to the left of the front view. This is the standard used in South Africa, specified by SANS

Third-Angle Projection: The object is placed in front of the projection planes. The viewer is behind the object. The top view is placed above the front view, and the right-side view is placed to the right of the front view.
