A. Units of Time: Seconds and Minutes Definition of a Second: A second (s) is the base unit of time. It is a very short duration. Many clocks have a second hand that moves in distinct steps.
Definition of a Minute: A minute (min) is a unit of time equal to 60 seconds.
Relationship: 1 minute = 60 seconds 1 hour = 60 minutes 1 day = 24 hours 1 week = 7 days 1 month = approximately 4 weeks (or 28, 29, 30, or 31 days) 1 year = 12 months = 365 days (or 366 days in a leap year) Telling Time in Seconds and Minutes (Recap): Analog Clock: The long, thin hand (or sometimes a red hand) moves quickly and points to the seconds. Each small mark between numbers represents one second. The minute hand moves slowly, pointing to the minutes. Each major number (1 to 12) represents 5 minutes (e.g., 3 means 15 minutes past).
Digital Clock: Shows time directly in hours, minutes, and often seconds (e.g., 10:30:15 means 10 hours, 30 minutes, 15 seconds).
