Learning Objectives:

  2. Respond to the teacher when a body part is named.
  3. Imitate actions such as touching or pointing to body parts.
  4. Participate in singing body parts songs and rhymes.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Welcome song

Body parts rhyme (e.g., “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”)

Teacher says the word “body” and learners repeat.

Pupils point to their body parts as named.

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Teacher points to and names body parts (head, hands, legs, face, body).

Pupils touch their own body parts when named.

Pupils point to body parts on dolls.

Pupils look at charts and pictures of children.

 

Mirror activity: Pupils look at themselves and touch named parts.

 

Materials Needed:

Charts

Body parts poster

Pictures of children

Dolls

Mirrors

Video clips (short body parts song)

 

Movement Break

Sing and act “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.”

Jump and touch your head.

Clap your hands.

Stamp your feet.

 

Creative Time:

Colour a simple outline of a child.

Paste cut-out body parts on a large paper body.

Point and say the body part while colouring.

 

Language Development:

Teacher says: “This is my head.”

Pupils repeat simple words: head, hands, legs, body.

Pupils say “body” with the teacher.

Picture talk: “What is this?” (Head.)

 

Assessment (Observation-Based):

✔ Can the child point to a named body part?
✔ Can the child touch their body part when asked?
✔ Can the child say at least one body part word?
✔ Does the child participate in songs and activities?
