Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  1. Explain meaning and importance of personal hygiene.
  2. Demonstrate complete personal hygiene routine: bathing, brushing teeth, washing hands, wearing clean clothes, combing hair, trimming nails.
  3. Understand hygiene prevents disease and shows self-respect.
  4. Practice hygiene at home, school, and play: not sharing personal items, covering mouth when coughing/sneezing, proper toilet use.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Discuss germs and how personal hygiene prevents illness.

Show pictures of children practicing hygiene.

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Demonstrate full hygiene routine step by step.

Role-play covering mouth when sneezing/coughing.

Practice using handkerchief/tissues and washing hands afterward.

 

Materials Needed:

Mirrors, toothbrushes, towels, soap, combs, clean clothes, nail clipper, tissues, handwashing station, hygiene posters.

 

Movement Break:

Pretend washing hands, combing hair, brushing teeth.

 

Creative Time:

Draw self completing personal hygiene routine.

Children repeat words during demonstration, role-play, and drawing.
