  1. Say one helpful and one harmful insect.
  2. Say that soil is where plants grow.
  3. Describe soil as brown or black and grainy.
  4. Say that sound is what we hear with our ears.
  5. Identify loud and soft sounds.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Review insects (butterfly, bee, mosquito).
Ask: “Which insect can bite?”
Show soil in a container and let children observe.
Ask: “What do we hear with?” (Ears)

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Sort insects into helpful (bee, butterfly) and harmful (mosquito, housefly).
Let children touch and feel soil.
Make loud and soft sounds using classroom objects (clap loudly, whisper softly).

 

Materials Needed:

Insect charts, small container of soil, drum/bell, picture cards.

 

Movement Break:

March loudly like a drum, tiptoe quietly like a whisper.

 

Creative Time:

Draw a plant growing in soil or draw something that makes sound (drum, bell).

 

Language Development:

Words: “Soil,” “Sound,” “Loud,” “Soft,” “Helpful,” “Harmful”
Children repeat: “Sound is what we hear.”

 

Assessment (Observation-Based):
