Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  1. Explain the functions of the skin and why skin care is important.
  2. Demonstrate proper skin care: bathing, drying, applying lotion, wearing clean clothes.
  3. Identify safe habits: drinking water, not scratching skin with dirty nails, telling adults about rashes or cuts.
  4. Appreciate that all skin colors are beautiful.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Discuss how skin protects our body and feels things.

Show pictures of healthy skin and rashes or cuts.

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Demonstrate bathing, drying, and applying lotion.

Practice telling teacher/adult about cuts or rashes.

Show proper clothing and discuss sun protection.

 

Materials Needed:

Dolls, lotion/cream, bathing props, skin care posters, mirrors, water cups, skin color diversity chart.

 

Movement Break:

Pretend to bathe and apply lotion.

 

Creative Time:

Draw themselves with clean, healthy skin or color “skin care chart.”

 

Language Development:

Words: “Skin,” “Bath,” “Lotion,” “Clean,” “Cut,” “Rash”

Repeat words during demonstration and creative activity.

 

Assessment (Observation-Based):

✔ Can the child demonstrate proper skin care?
✔ Can the child tell an adult about skin problems?
✔ Can the child identify clean vs dirty skin habits?
