Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  1. Explain why legs need care and how they help us move.
  2. Demonstrate proper leg and foot hygiene: washing daily, drying between toes, wearing clean socks and proper footwear.
  3. Recognize importance of keeping toenails short and checking for injuries.
  4. Identify safe behaviors like not walking barefoot in dirty or dangerous areas.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Discuss why legs are important and what could happen if they are not cared for.

Show pictures of clean vs dirty feet and safe vs unsafe footwear.

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Demonstrate washing and drying feet properly.

Practice checking toes and legs for cuts or bruises on dolls or themselves.

Role-play putting on clean socks and shoes.

 

Materials Needed:

Dolls, pictures of feet and socks, toy shoes, lotion/cream, mirrors, foot hygiene posters.

 

Movement Break:

Pretend walking safely in clean shoes and putting on socks.

 

Creative Time:

Draw feet wearing clean socks and shoes or color a “healthy legs” chart.

Repeat words during demonstrations, role-play, and drawing activity.
