Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain why hands need care.
  2. Demonstrate proper handwashing steps.
  3. Identify times to wash hands: before eating, after toilet, after playing, touching dirt.
  4. Understand use of hand sanitizer when water is unavailable.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Show pictures of clean vs dirty hands.

Discuss germs and preventing sickness through hand care.

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Demonstrate proper handwashing using soap and water.

Let children practice washing hands following steps: wet, soap, scrub all parts, rinse, dry.

Discuss protecting hands from injury.

 

Materials Needed:

Handwashing station, soap, towels, handwashing posters, clean/dirty hands pictures, hand sanitizer.

 

Movement Break:

Pretend washing hands and scrubbing fingers.

 

Creative Time:

Draw a picture of hands being washed properly.

Children repeat words during demonstration and drawing activity.
