Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  1. Explain that dangerous objects are things that can hurt us.
  2. Identify examples of dangerous objects.
  3. State why dangerous objects are harmful.
  4. Demonstrate safe behavior around dangerous objects.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Discuss what “dangerous” means (something that can hurt us).
Show pictures of broken bottles, knives, scissors, needles, nails, glass pieces.
Ask children if they have seen any of these before.

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Show safe picture samples of dangerous objects.
Discuss why they are dangerous (they can cut or pierce).
Role-play: If you see a knife on the floor, what should you do? (Tell an adult).
Practice saying: “Don’t touch. Tell an adult.”

 

Materials Needed:

Picture cards of dangerous objects
Safety posters
Storybook about safety
Chart paper

 

Movement Break:

Act out: See a dangerous object → Step back → Call an adult.

 

Creative Time:

Color pictures of safe vs unsafe objects (circle the unsafe ones in red).

 

Language Development:

Words: “Danger,” “Sharp,” “Safe,” “Hurt,” “Adult”
Children repeat safety phrase: “Don’t touch. Tell an adult.”

 

Assessment (Observation-Based):

✔ Can the child identify dangerous objects?
✔ Can the child explain why they are dangerous?
✔ Does the child say what to do when they see one?
