Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify the head and its parts (hair, forehead, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, chin).
  2. Understand the uses of the head (thinking, seeing, smelling, hearing, eating).
  3. Demonstrate simple head movements (nodding, shaking).
  4. Learn basic head protection (wearing helmets).

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Pupils touch their heads while teacher points to their own.

Sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.”

Show head pictures and diagrams.

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Identify parts on their own head and on a large diagram.

Play “Simon Says” with head parts.

Demonstrate nodding (yes) and shaking head (no).

Discuss helmet use and safety.

 

Materials Needed:

Large body chart

Head diagram and flashcards

Mirrors

Helmet (for demonstration)

“Simon Says” game materials

 

Movement Break:

Nodding and shaking head with music.

Stretching and pretending to put on helmets.

 

Creative Time:

Colour head diagram and label parts.

Make paper head masks with facial features.

 

Language Development:

Teacher: “The head helps us think, see, hear, smell, and eat.”

Pupils repeat: “head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, chin, hair, think, see, hear, smell, eat.”

 

Assessment (Observation-Based):

✔ Can the child identify the head on self and in pictures?
✔ Can the child point to at least three parts of the head?
✔ Can the child perform nodding and shaking head movements?
✔ Can the child explain one way to protect the head?
