Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  1. Understand that plants are living things that grow.
  2. Identify plants in the environment and in pictures.
  3. Name examples of plants (flowers, grass, trees).
  4. Touch plants gently and observe their parts.

 

Circle Time (5–10 minutes):

Welcome song.

Teacher introduces the word “plant” and repeats with pupils.

Pupils discuss and point to plants they see.

Sing a short plant song.

 

Main Activity (Hands-On):

Nature walk around the school to observe plants.

Teacher points out leaves, stems, roots, flowers.

Pupils touch and observe plants gently.

Use picture cards of different plants for identification.

 

Materials Needed:

Real potted plants

Picture cards of plants

Charts showing parts of plants

Flowers, grass samples

Song charts

 

Movement Break:

“Reach for the leaves” game.

Pretend to water plants and grow tall.

Stretch and bend like growing trees.

 

Creative Time:

Colour plant pictures.

Paste leaves and flowers on a craft paper plant.

 

Language Development:

Teacher: “This is a plant. Plants need water and sunlight.”

Pupils repeat: “plant, leaf, flower, stem, root.”

 

Assessment (Observation-Based):

✔ Can the child identify a plant in real life or pictures?
✔ Can the child name at least one type of plant?
✔ Does the child touch and observe plants gently?
✔ Can the child point to plant parts when asked?
