  1. Discuss the simple meaning of respect
  2. Describe how to show respect to elders

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: picture books, posters/charts showing people greeting one another, pupils as learning resource

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher uses the if you’re happy and you know it song introduces the topic and explains that respect is when you care about how your actions affect other people

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

She explains the various ways we can show respect to parents, elders, teachers and classmates.

-      By greeting them

-      Not making noise and disturbing others in the class

-      Saying sorry when we are wrong

-      Listening to others especially our parents and teachers when they are talking

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She demonstrates how to show respect to elders by greeting, saying sorry and listening to others when they are talking

 

She then asks some of the learners to display a way we can show respect

EVALUATION:    1. Saying sorry is one way to show respect. Yes/No

  1. When our teacher is talking in the class, what should we do? (talk also, listen attentively)
  2. Is it good to care about how our actions affect others? (Yes/No)

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively
