SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupil’s should be able to

  1. List and discuss some care to be given to a pupil that is ill e.g giving ORT/SS solution when necessary, give food, water, warmth, first aid treatment, refer to clinic.

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Clinical thermometer, newspaper, magazines, calendar cutting, pictures of various immunization programmes, show sample of drugs to children.

Using clinical thermometer, pictures of various immunization, samples of drugs, the teacher shows the pupils how ill people are treated

Explanation

The teacher lists and discusses the practical steps to be followed when administering treatment to an ill pupil, which are: giving food, water, first aid treatment.

The teacher then tells the pupil’s that after first-aid is given to a sick person, the person is then taken to the hospital for further treatments to avoid complications.
