HOLY SPIRIT AND THE MISSION TO THE GENTILES
A. Promise of the Holy Spirit (John 14:15–31)

  • Jesus promised to send the Comforter who would guide, teach, and empower believers.

B. Coming of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1–13)

  • On Pentecost, a sound like a rushing wind and tongues of fire came upon the disciples.
  • They spoke in various languages.

C. Peter’s Speech (Acts 2:14–41)

  • Explained the event as fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy
  • Preached about Jesus’ death, resurrection, and Lordship
  • Urged repentance and baptism
  • 3,000 people were saved that day

D. Significance

  • Holy Spirit marked the beginning of the Church
  • Empowered believers for mission
  • Broke barriers between Jews and Gentiles
