SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Learners should be able to;
a. Analyze different topics for expository writing
b. Develop detailed essays on topics such as electronics, drug abuse, examination malpractice, and excursions
c. Use logical flow and coherence in their writing
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Discussion, individual writing, peer review
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Whiteboard, markers, sample essays, handouts on topic analysis
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES:
PERIOD 1:

  • Introduction: Teacher discusses the importance of choosing a relevant and interesting topic for an expository essay.
  • Content Delivery: The teacher elaborates on different topics:
    • Electronics: Discuss how electronics have impacted daily life, both positively and negatively.
    • Drug Abuse: Discuss the causes and consequences of drug abuse in society.
    • Examination Malpractice: Explain the prevalence of exam cheating and its effects on education.
    • Excursion: Discuss the benefits of educational excursions for students.
  • Class Activity: Students select one of the topics to write about, outline their main points, and share them with the class.

PERIOD 2:

  • Writing Practice: Students write their essays based on the topic chosen.
  • Peer Review: Students exchange essays with a classmate for peer feedback.
  • Teacher Support: Teacher provides feedback on structure, clarity, and content as students work.
