NOTE
TRANSMISSION SYSTEM COMPONENTS II
Functions of the various components of the transmission system:
- The transmission contains gears that change the speed ratio between the engine and the wheels.
- It allows the vehicle to accelerate, decelerate, and maintain speed at different engine RPMs.
- The clutch connects and disconnects the engine from the transmission.
- It allows the driver to change gears without stalling the engine by temporarily interrupting power flow.
- The torque converter transfers power from the engine to the transmission using fluid coupling.
- It allows the engine to continue running while the vehicle is stationary or moving at low speeds.
- The gear selector allows the driver to choose the desired gear.
- In manual transmissions, it's usually a gear stick. In automatic transmissions, it's a lever or buttons.
- The shift linkage connects the gear selector to the transmission.
- It translates the driver's input into movement of internal transmission components for gear selection.
- Transmission fluid lubricates and cools moving parts inside the transmission.
- It helps transmit power and provides hydraulic pressure for gear engagement in automatic transmissions.
- The valve body is a hydraulic control unit that regulates transmission fluid flow.
- It directs fluid to engage and disengage gears, controlling gear shifts in automatic transmissions.
EVALUATION: 1. Mention 5 components of transmission system
CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the students positively
