SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

  1. Explain the confrontation between Amos and Amaziah.
  2. Describe God's judgement on evildoers from the book of Amos.
  3. List the risks associated with proclaiming God’s message.
  4. Identify social evils in Nigeria today.
  5. Discuss the need for steadfastness when standing for righteousness.

STEP 1 - Review

The teacher reviews the last lesson on the Sovereignty of God.

STEP 2 - Introduction

The teacher introduces the topic by asking questions like, “What do you think true religion means?” and “What are some injustices you see in society?”

Learners respond with their thoughts.

STEP 3 - Explanation

The teacher explains:

a.   Amos and Amaziah’s conflict (Amos 2:10–17).

b.   Divine judgement on evildoers (Amos 4:2–3, 4:6–10, 5:14–20, 6, 7:16–17, 8:9–10).

c. Risks faced by true prophets – persecution, denial, job loss.

               d. Importance of standing firm     in faith despite challenges

Learners listen, read scriptures, participate in discussion, and ask questions.
