STEP 2 Introduction

Learners give opinions and respond thoughtfully.

STEP 3 Explanation

The teacher explains: a. False religion condemned by Amos (Amos 5:21–23; 4:4–5) b. True religion (Amos 5:4, 14–15, 24) c. Social vices in Israel (Amos 2:6–8; 4:1–2; 5:7–13) d. The need for justice, mercy, and right living

A. True Religion (Amos 5:21–23; 4:4–5)

  • God is not pleased with mere outward worship or rituals.
  • Religion without righteousness and justice is false.

B. What God Requires (Amos 5:4, 14–15, 24)

  • Seek God and live.
  • Hate evil, love good, and maintain justice.
  • “Let justice roll on like a river…” (Amos 5:24)

C. Social Vices Condemned by Amos

  • Exploitation of the poor (Amos 2:6–8)
  • Oppression by rich women (Amos 4:1–2)
  • Corruption and injustice (Amos 5:7–13)

D. Relevance to Today

  • God wants our hearts, not just activities.
  • Christians must promote fairness, truth, and kindness.
