SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

  1. Explain the decree made by King Darius and Daniel’s response.
  2. Describe how Daniel expressed his faith in God.
  3. Narrate the events surrounding Daniel in the lion’s den.
  4. Explain how God’s power was manifested in Daniel’s deliverance.
  5. State the effects of Daniel’s faith on the king and the kingdom.
  6. Highlight the outstanding qualities of Daniel as seen in the Bible passages.

STEP 1 Review

The teacher explains: a. King Darius’ decree (Daniel 6:1–9) b. Daniel’s prayer life despite the decree (Daniel 6:10–15) c. Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6:11–18) d. God’s power to save (Daniel 6:19–24) e. The result of Daniel’s faith (Daniel 6:25–28) f. Qualities of Daniel – integrity, faithfulness, consistency (Daniel 1:3–8; 6:3–5, 10, 22–23)

Learners read Bible passages, ask questions, dramatize scenarios, and participate in group discussions.

FAITH AND POWER OF GOD
A. The Decree to Worship the King (Daniel 6:1–9)

  • King Darius signed a law forbidding prayer to any god or man except him for 30 days.

B. Daniel’s Faith in God (Daniel 6:10–15)

  • Daniel continued to pray three times a day despite the decree, showing unwavering faith.

C. Daniel in the Lion’s Den (Daniel 6:11–18)

  • Daniel was thrown into the den for disobeying the king’s decree.

D. Power of God Manifested (Daniel 6:19–24)

  • God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths, and Daniel was unharmed.

E. Effects of Daniel’s Faith (Daniel 6:25–28)

  • King Darius declared the God of Daniel as the living God.

F. Qualities of Daniel

  • Wise, excellent spirit (Daniel 6:3)
  • Resolved not to defile himself (Daniel 1:8)
  • Faithful and trustworthy (Daniel 6:4–5)
  • Fearless and devoted in prayer (Daniel 6:10)

EVALUATION:

  1. What was the king’s decree and how did Daniel respond?
  2. Describe what happened to Daniel in the lion’s den.
  3. How did God show His power in this story?
  4. What were the effects of Daniel’s faith?
  5. Mention any three qualities of Daniel.

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends students' participation, marks classwork, and encourages them to stand firm in their faith like Daniel.
