SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

  1. Narrate the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
  2. Explain the command given by King Nebuchadnezzar.
  3. Describe the faith of the three Hebrew boys.
  4. Discuss God’s deliverance and its impact.
  5. Identify where God commanded not to worship other gods.
  6. Apply the lesson of faith and courage to their own lives.

d.   The effects of their courage and faith on both Jews and Babylonians.

FAITH IN GOD
A. Nebuchadnezzar’s Command (Daniel 3:1–7):

  • A golden image was built and everyone was commanded to bow to it at the sound of music.

B. Refusal of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3:8–18):

  • They refused to worship the image, saying God would deliver them.
  • They stood firm even if God did not save them.

C. Punishment and Deliverance (Daniel 3:19–30):

  • They were thrown into a blazing furnace but were unharmed.
  • A fourth person appeared with them—an angel or the Son of God.
  • Nebuchadnezzar praised their God and promoted them.

D. Effect of Their Faith:

  • Strengthened the faith of other Jews.
  • Changed the perception of the Babylonians about God.

E. Biblical Command Against Idol Worship (Exodus 20:3–5):

  • “You shall have no other gods before me...”
  • Worship of images is forbidden.

F. Application:

  • Students should stand for God even in tough times.
  • Courage and faith inspire others.
