BASINS ORGANIZATIONS

Basins is a “dip” in the earth’s surface. They look like bowls. Basins

Organizations are formal or informal organizations responsible for the

management of water resources at the basin scale.

 

The functions of basins organizations include

  1. Collecting and managing data regarding water quantity and availability
  2. prevention of water pollution
  3. Harmonizing state and non-state actors with regards to water basins
  4. resolving conflicts in the case of litigation with regards to water
  5. designing and constructing water facilities
  6. Maintaining water infrastructure
  7. Operating water infrastructure in ways that ensures even distribution and

navigation among different functions of water

 

ROLES OF FACILITATORS IN BASINS ORGANIZATIONS

  1. They are the leading voice on basin-wide water issues
  2. They keep basin constituencies and decision-makers in all sectors and

at all levels in both private and public sector informed and involved
