RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD

Responsible parenthood is the ability of parents to provide for the

essential needs of their children for them to become responsible citizens

in society.

 

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF FATHER

1. he provides for the financial needs of the family
2. he provides shelter, security and protection for his family
3. he disciplines the children
4. he models good behaviours as an example to his children
5. He imbibes and inculcates the right attitude into his children

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MOTHER

1. She monitors the health and social well being of the children by

preparing healthy meals and ensuring that the environment is clean

2. she shows and models right attitudes as an example to the children
3. she supervises the children’s assignments from school
4. she monitors the kind of company the children keep and provides

counsel where it is necessary

 

IMPORTANCE OF RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD

1. it reduces the crime rate in the society
2. it promotes good character and good values system in the society
3. it produces citizens that have the spirit of nationalism and patriotism
4. it brings about peace, harmony and development of society
5. it produces productive and highly responsible citizens
